  • Chairperson

    organizes, governs and supervises the performance of the functions and activities, assigned to the Agency, and represents the Agency. Atanas Atanasov was appointed Chairman of the State Intelligence Agency by Decree № 194/20.07.2018 of the President of Bulgaria.

  • Coordintaion, Analysis and Public
    Relations

    Coordinates the structural units’ activities and controls task performance. Assists in drafting strategic analyses. Coordinates the Agency’s cooperation with other state institutions. Handles contacts with the media and the public.

  • Inspector

    has supervisory functions including control on the terms and procedure for expending special funds and their accountability, aimed at assisting in the prevention and detection of violations of the law

  • Deputy Chair

    assists the Chairperson in his duties, by performing the powers and functions assigned to him/her; performs the functions and powers of the Chairperson in his/her absence. Asen Tutekov was appointed Deputy Chair by Decision of the Council of Ministers № 291/26.04.2018

  • Deputy Chair

    assists the Chairperson in his duties, by performing the powers and functions assigned to him/her; performs the functions and powers of the Chairperson in his/her absence. Angelo Prokopiev was appointed Deputy Chairs by Decision of the Council of Ministers № 952/03.12.2015

  • Internal Audit

    carries out internal audit in accordance with the Law on Internal Audit in the Public Sector and assists the Inspector in his duties.

  • Operations

    performs intelligence activities aimed at obtaining information related to the foreign political and economic security.

  • Counter-terrorism and AT

    performs intelligence activities aimed at obtaining information related to countering terrorism, extremism, organized crime, the illegal traffic of people, drugs and to other asymmetric threats (AT) and prepares information reports and analyses.

  • Information and Analysis

    processes and analyses the intelligence, obtained by SIA and prepares information reports and analyses for the needs of the state leadership, the national institutions, the structures part of the national security system and the foreign partner services.

  • Operations and Technology

    develops, maintains and uses computer, information and communications systems and networks, specialized equipment and cryptographic means for information protection.

  • International Cooperation

    establishes and maintains contacts with related services of the EU and NATO member-states and other countries, for the purpose of exchanging intelligence information and developing cooperation.

  • Security and Protection of Classified
    Information

    ensures the security of the personnel, the facilities and the Agency as a whole, and the protection of classified information.

  • Human Resources

    carries out the selection process and background vetting of prospective applicants for positions within the Agency; organizes the operative and language training, as well as the overall qualification and career development of the personnel.

  • Psychological Support

    overall psychological support for the activities of SIA in the pursuit of the Agency’s tasks and functions.

  • Archiving

    organizes the use and storage of the information archive of SIA.

  • Legal and Regulatory Activities

    provides legal support in the pursuit of SIA’s functions.

  • Finance

    Handles all finance and accounts activities within the Agency.

  • Logistics

    Conducts all logistical activities of the Agency. Handles maintenance and material assets. Organizes tenders.
